Jim and Pam – The Office
What you need to know: This particular office romance is one of the most well-loved relationships in modern television. With the renewed interest in The Office (mostly thanks to its availability streaming), Jim and Pam have become the epitome of “relationship goals.” Their relationship may not have included a lot of melodrama or histrionics, but the show’s popularity and their relatable issues made folks fall in love with them as a couple.
Why we ‘ship them so hard: Although this list is in no particular order, they would probably rank pretty high if it were. When the show starts, Pam was engaged to Roy, the world’s most aggressively annoying warehouse worker. It became apparent, very quickly, how severe Jim’s crush was on Pam.
He low-key flirts, secretly positions himself near her at all times, and casts longing glances her way for three solid seasons. That’s right, TV watchers. The Office strung us along for three whole seasons before they put these lovers together. And then it made us wait another two seasons before they got married. This is how you get audiences invested in a ‘ship, folks. Slow and steady wins the ‘ship race.
How to watch it all unfold: The Office and all six of its seasons are no longer available on Netflix, but you can watch them on Peacock.
Netflix certainly introduced the mockumentary to a whole new generation of fans, and frankly, a whole new batch of ‘shippers. Without its relationship with Netflix, Jim and Pam would just be another iconic couple in television history. Thanks to the wonders of the new media, however, they are alive and well and streaming somewhere right now.
