What you need to know: The very first thing you need to know is that Tim Riggins is dreamy, and his “Texas Forever” attitude only makes him that much more desirable. To some fans of Friday Night Lights, Tim’s most remarkable relationship is with the girl next door cheerleader, Lyla.
However, true fans will recognize Tyra Collette as the real love of his life. The first season deals with their romance, and Tim is kind of a terrible boyfriend if you want to know the truth. However, once Tyra wises up and realizes her value, she breaks up with him, and he starts to see what he missed.
Why we ‘ship them so hard: Tyra is the only woman who really sees Tim for what he is, and she didn’t try to change him or nudge him to be better. Of course, he probably could have used the help to realize his full potential, but Tyra never makes him feel less than.
Tim is his most relaxed self when he’s with Tyra, and their pull on each other never quite goes away. Even after Tyra leaves Dillon, Texas in her rearview, she still comes back to Tim every now and then, to remind her (and him) of the special thing between them.
