Harry Potter director Alfonso Cuarón lands 10 Oscar nominations

The 91st Oscar nominations have been revealed and Harry Potter director Alfonso Cuarón has landed 10 nominations for Roma.
Yesterday, the nominations for the 91st Oscar’s were made and amongst the nominees was Alfonso Cuarón. The Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban director was nominated for 10 Oscar’s for the autobiographical drama, Roma.
It was nominated for Best Picture, Best Lead Actress, Best Supporting Actress, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Foreign Language Film, Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing, and Best Production Design.

The film, which is vastly different from Alfonso Cuarón’s previous work in Harry Potter, Children of Men, and Gravity, is a story about a normal family in Mexico City, in an ordinary neighborhood, with interrupting scenes of everyday violent events and tragedy.

Roma has been nominated and winning several awards from the moment it debuted. it recently won several Golden Globe Awards during the award ceremony at the start of the year. It is widely expected to win some of the Oscar’s it has been nominated for.
Currently, Roma is available to stream on Netflix. The streaming platform acquired the rights to show the movie shortly after it was made. Roma is the very first Netflix movie to be nominated for an Oscar for best picture.
