Will the Fantastic Beasts 3 release date be delayed now?

With official confirmation that Fantastic Beasts 3 filming is to be delayed. Will the Fantastic Beasts 3 release date be delayed now as well?

We learned several days ago that filming for Fantastic Beasts 3 had been delayed. Originally, filming was set to begin in July. This is officially no longer the case with Warner. Bros pushing back the beginning of filming to late fall.

This decision was taken because production needed more time to get ready. They simply do not have enough time. So, rather than trying to rush things and potentially create a hash job of a movie. Warner Bros. decided to move back the production start date.

Which is a great thing. I think we can all agree that the last thing we want is a Wizarding World movie made poorly just so a deadline could be met. However, will this decision actually affect the overall Fantastic Beasts 3 release date?

Because while the announcement was made that the beginning of production had been delayed. They did not mention anything about delaying the release date, which is expected to be in late 2020.

In all honesty, it probably will delay the release date. We’re likely looking at 2021 now. However, there is the possibility that it will not be delayed. The lost time could be made in many ways. Such as during the production and post-production.

For example, let’s say, although unlikely but not impossible, that production is perfect. No reshoots are needed. That would speed things up massively. Another example is during post-production, they could speed up the process by using a larger team for when it comes to creating all the visual effects. Meaningmanpower power, therefore less time needed.

My point is, there are ways to speed things up to meet the 2020 release date despite the delay to the initial beginning of filming. But, it all comes back to balance. If they rush too much they run the risk of making a mess. And nobody wants that.
