“One Time” – Justin Bieber

Ten years ago, the world was introduced to a talented little boy from Canada who first broke out on YouTube performing covers. That boy was 15-year-old Justin Bieber, who was on the verge of superstardom. In May 2009, Justin’s debut single “One Time” was unleashed onto the world and it was an instant hit, especially among teenage girls.

This was just the beginning of Bieber Mania, as he readied the release of his debut EP My World, followed by the debut album My World 2.0 in 2010. The song was perfectly innocent for the teen, singing about the girl he had a crush on in his adorably pre-pubescent voice. Luckily for Justin, his voice aged well once it dropped a couple octaves. Bieber was first discovered on YouTube by his future agent Scooter Braun and was signed to Braun’s company in collaboration with Usher. The young Canadian was a hot commodity, so it’s no surprise that his debut single was written especially for him by Christopher “Tricky” Stewart and producer Kuk Harrell, who previously penned hits like Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies” and Mariah Carey’s “Obsessed.”

Bieber quickly rose up the charts and became an international hit, singing and dancing his way into the hearts of fans everywhere. Over the last decade, he has released albums, perfumes, books, tours and essentially took over the world. Though he has made headlines for plenty of other reasons, like legal troubles, nude photos, and his on-again, off-again relationship with Selena Gomez (which is now officially off following his marriage to Hailey Baldwin), his music has always prevailed.
