Samuel L. Jackson reveals that Captain Marvel could have time travel powers. How could she use these powers to help the Avengers?
Captain Marvel will be released before Avengers: Endgame, and many fans are wondering if the former will set up the way for the Avengers to defeat Thanos in the latter. According to reports a set visit Entertainment Tonight went on last year, time travel could play a role in the whole story.
During the set visit, Samuel L. Jackson said that Carol Danvers has time travel abilities. This is interesting since there has been a lot of speculation that time travel will play a role in Avengers: Endgame and saving the world.
Jackson said the following: “I mean, are up against some really, really tough odds right now — we saw throughout Infinity War — so now we know that we need something that’s as powerful as Thanos, and at some point, we’ll find out how powerful she is and all the things that she’s capable of. She’s one of the few people in the Marvel universe that can time travel, so…”
Many people wonder if time travel of some sort or traveling between different realms (such as between the Quantum Realm and our reality) would play a big role in Endgame. The focus on the Quantum Realm in Ant-Man & the Wasp added to this speculation. If Captain Marvel really can time travel, she would likely be able to use this power as an asset to help the Avengers. And, let’s face it, they need all the help they can get right now.
If she can travel through time and space, the big question is how is she able to do it? An article from PopSugar claims that Captain Marvel isn’t likely to be able to time travel with her own abilities. However, there are other ways she could possibly move through time if this is the case.
Since Captain Marvel is clearly going to be an enhanced being, the article says that she might be in the Quantum Realm and that she would easily be able to survive going in and out of this realm. It wouldn’t be too far of a stretch to assume that Captain Marvel could become connected to the Quantum Realm and use this knowledge to help the Avengers.
Another possibility is that of the Time Stone. Seeing as Captain Marvel is set in the past, it would still be around and not belong to Thanos. However, the Stone is likely still located at Kamar-Taj during the time the movie takes place, so it seems unlikely that she would — or could — get access to it.
Finally, Captain Marvel really could just have these powers as part of her Kree abilities. Perhaps the mixing of human and Kree DNA could produce something strange, although it might seem like a pretty clear attempt to pull a deus ex machina for Endgame depending on its execution. Marvel would have to strike a delicate balance or risk looking lazy.
We will all just have to give our best theories and speculations until the movie is released in March, and we can’t wait to find out!
