10 video games that are desperately due for another installment

We never want our favorite video games to end. The next best thing is another installment. Here are our picks for 10 games due for a new iteration

We all have our favorite video games. They hold a special place in our heart. We can revisit them time and time again and never get sick of them. But on the other hand… if we had more of what we already loved, that would just make everything better.

Some games on this list have already had a sequel or two. But those sequels are just so good that it’s no wonder fans will want more. Other games on this list have gone untouched for so long that it’s criminal how long we’ve gone without more content.

Whether it’s for PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo systems or even PC, there are plentiful games out there that fans would certainly appreciate getting more of. No pressure, of course, to the game developers… but, hint, hint. If they’re listening, we’ve compiled a list of 10 of our favorite games that desperately need another one in the series.

BioShock

It’s been five years since a proper BioShock sequel has been released. Infinite was the last one in the series, released in March of 2013. It was a good release in the series, but some fans felt a little forlorn. The beloved series with a strong fan base is due for another sequel.

Mass Effect

The Mass Effect games are strangely sort of addicting. It’s hard to explain. No matter how many times I replay them, I get sucked into the story and the action. Except for Andromeda, which I feel like many people feel the same way. Listen up, BioWare, Mass Effect deserves another (good) game in the series. We’ll wait as patiently as we can.

Elder Scrolls

How many more times do we need to get a release of Skyrim before Bethesda will give us a new entry into the series? While we know they’re currently working on the next one, Bethesda has another game in development ahead of it. So we’ll have to keep waiting, even though we want the sixth installment in the series.

Bloodborne

I know FromSoftware is working on the finishing touches for Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. But that doesn’t mean I don’t want a second Bloodborne any less. The satisfying gameplay and story of the first one make the desire for a second one all the greater.

Diablo

After the cringe-worthy trailer for Diablo Immortal, fans can only wonder when they’ll get a proper installment in the series. Diablo III holds a strong place in the hearts of many.

Blizzard needs to deliver on giving us another great installment.

Grand Theft Auto

You can never go wrong with a good GTA video game. This series began way back in 1997 and it’s still going strong today. GTA V came out in 2013, and it’s been a long five years since its release.

And even though it came out five years ago, it still feels like a revolutionary game. Just imagine the possibilities with another one. Maybe we’ll just have to wait for the next gen consoles to come out first. And if that’s the case, we’ll be patiently waiting for you, too, Microsoft and Sony.

Horizon Zero Dawn

Horizon Zero Dawn only came out last year, but don’t you already want another one? The graphics, the storyline, the mechanics, the open world possibilities…

I don’t care that it needs some time to settle into the ethos of the video game world. I’m all for another one coming out sooner rather than later. Let’s take Aloy on some new adventures.

Uncharted

You can never have enough Uncharted in your life. I don’t care that there were already four of them and a spin-off around Chloe. And I especially don’t care that it ended on such a perfect note. (Okay, maybe I care a little, but only because it means the next sequel will be just as great, right?)

The world can always use more Nathan Drake and his wise-cracking, Indiana Jones-esque ways. Plus it gave us a great “Hey Ash Whatcha Playin’.

Portal 3

Why does the cake have to be a lie? Can’t we get another iteration where the cake actually comes to fruition? Anyway, the Portal series is one of the most highly-praised of video game series, and it’s a shame that we really only have two (two and a half if you want to count Still Alive).

2011 was the last time we got a Portal game, and that’s too long. We need more GLaDOS in our lives.

Earthbound

There hasn’t been a proper English release of an Earthbound since the original. One of the best RPGs ever made, fans in the U.S. can only wonder if we’ll ever get any sort of official sequel.

Heck, at this point, we’ll just take a digital version on the Nintendo Switch.
