Harry Potter and the Cursed Child ends 2018 by smashing box office records

2018 was a big year for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and it ended the year on a high by smashing box office records.
If anyone had a good year in 2018 it was Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Making its way across the Atlantic from the West End to Broadway, the Wizarding World production became an overnight success the moment it debuted in the Lyric Theatre.
Winning a string of awards, and smashing record after record, wherever you looked in the world of theatre, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was there somewhere. Now it’s gone and finished the year in style by smashing box office records.

According to Deadline. The two-part production finished the week ending Dec. 30 by taking in $2,525,850 at the Lyric Theatre, which seats 1,622.

It was not the only production to fair well at the box office during the week. To Kill A Mockingbird finished the year with $1,701,683. The production is held at the Shubert, which seats 1,435. Musical productions Aladdin, Frozen and The Lion King also broke records of their own. Along with Mean Girls, The Illusionists – Magic Of The Holidays, and Network.
There is still plenty on the horizon for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. The production is getting ready to premiere in Melbourne, Australia. With the Princess Theatre, recently unveiling the refurbishments it has been under. It also plans to launch in Hamburg, Germany, along with San Francisco as well.
Performances of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway are to continue throughout 2019, but the cast is due to change over very soon.
