7. Chrissy Teigen

Yes, it’s true that Chrissy Teigen has done lots of political advocacy work with her husband John Legend, as mentioned previously. That doesn’t mean she can’t get her own mention, thanks to both serious work in the realm of politics, as well as a hefty dose of social media trolling. Besides, John Legend himself has made the case that it’s Teigen who pushed him to be more outspoken, and definitely not the other way around.

That’s not to say the Teigen, a model and cookbook author, has less valid opinions or actions simply because she often states them on Twitter. Indeed, you can make the case that, more and more, social media isn’t just for running your mouth in the comforting anonymity of the internet.

Also, there’s nothing really saying that you can’t be a smart aleck and still make a good point. Teigen has expressed her support of women’s reproductive freedom and Planned Parenthood pretty vocally, to start. Meanwhile, in order to “celebrate” or at least mark the occasion of Donald Trump’s 72nd birthday, Teigen, Legend, and their two children (in name, anyway) each donated $72,000 to the American Civil Liberties Union.

It wasn’t just to troll the President, even though the pair have such a rocky relationship that Trump eventually blocked Teigen on Twitter. By the way, the President isn’t supposed to be able to block anyone on Twitter, thanks to federal rules, though Teigen is still not allowed to look through Trump’s Twitter feed.

Rather, the move was related to the White House’s reaction to immigrants entering the country, especially the family separation policy already mentioned here.

“John and I are outraged to see and hear the horror stories of immigrant families seeking asylum and refuge in American being ripped apart due to the inhumane policies of the Trump administration,” Teigen wrote. “On this auspicious occasion, in order to Make Trump’s Birthday Great Again, each member of our family has donated $72,000 to the ACLU.”
