Crescent City – Sarah J. Maas
The release of Kingdom of Ash this October brought Sarah J. Maas’ Throne of Glass series to a close. And though she intends to continue her A Court of Thorns and Roses series with a focus on different characters, Maas revealed that she’s begun working on a completely new project.
Dubbed Crescent City, Maas’ new novel will purportedly fall into the category of adult fantasy. Given that her novels have always teetered the line between young adult and adult, it should be interesting to see what this means for the story.
The new novel will be set in a world where humans live amongst supernatural beings, including demons, shapeshifters, and angels. There are complicated hierarchies within these groups of creatures, and humans seem to be at the bottom of all of them. The humans struggle to stay alive, presumably serving as prey for the more powerful beings.
Crescent City‘s main character, Bryce Quinlan, resides in this world. Half human and half Sidhe, Bryce joins forces with a warrior-angel to avenge the murder of her best friend. But on their mission to locate the killer, they discover a much worse enemy—one who could destroy everything they know.
On top of the suspenseful plot summary, the synopsis for Crescent City also promises readers a “spitfire heroine,” an “epic world on the brink of war,” and “heart-pounding romance.” With all of those things present, it seems that Maas’ new release will feature everything fans love about her previous works.
There’s currently no scheduled release date for Crescent City, though most sources agree that the book will publish in late 2019.
