11 video games coming out in 2019 that we can’t wait to play
Give us all the video games for 2019. No, seriously—we want to play all of the video games coming out in 2019. Find out which 11 make our top cut.
There is rarely a shortage of video games coming out just over the horizon, and 2019 is packed full. In trying to compile a list of our most-anticipated games, I found so many I didn’t even realize were coming out.
That being said, this list was very difficult to make. How can you make me narrow down to just 11 games?!
It’s unheard of, but somehow I managed.
Kingdom Hearts III – Jan. 25, 2019
How long have we been waiting for this third installment? Thirteen years? I was definitely still in high school when Kingdom Hearts II came out and was all the rage in my group of friends.
It doesn’t matter that I’m a grown adult with a mortgage. I’m going to play the living daylights out of this game and relish in the Disney-ness of it all, because it’s Kingdom Hearts. It doesn’t need to be anything more.
Resident Evil 2 – Jan. 25, 2019
It’s a remake! It’s going to be amazing! You’re going to get that old school Resident Evil 2 vibe, but it will still feel different.
Mostly I’m curious to see the similarities in the game. You can’t go wrong with a good Resident Evil, even if I do hate jump scares and scares in general. But having this be a third-person over-the-shoulder vantage, instead of remaining in the original fixed first-person-shooter format, might make it a little less scary.
Cyberpunk 2077 – TBA
Guys. Guys. The gameplay that was released at E3… my goodness. Can you even form coherent thoughts about it?
We’ve been waiting so long for this game. And from the demo bits we saw over the summer, it looks just as gorgeous and as wonderful as I had hoped. I know it still doesn’t technically have a release date (probably 2020), but it’s being added to the list because it has to be on here.
Anthem – Feb. 22, 2019
Everything about Anthem just looks gorgeous. It’s the next BioWare open world shooter game (or a co-op RPG). It’s a competitor to Destiny, and fans have been waiting for this for a while.
Each player has their own central city that they shape via how they play the game, but out in the bigger world, you get to play with your friends. It’ll be fun to see how this one rolls out.
Ghost of Tsushima – TBD
If you aren’t drawn in by the gorgeous look of this game, maybe the idea of an open-world samurai/ninja epic will, because this looks awesome.
The graphics look stellar, and the gameplay looks even better. Honestly, I just want to play it, just so that I can make my character sit on the edge of a cliff and just stare out at the scenery.
Death Stranding – TBD
With every new trailer or bit of gameplay that comes out, I always turn to my husband and ask him if he knows what’s going on. “Nope,” he replies. “But I want to play it.”
Still, I want to find out. It looks terrifying, mysterious, gorgeous, and everything you want from a Hideo Kojima game.
This is another game that technically has a “TBD” release date. We can only hope it’s 2019, if only so we can find out what the heck is going on.
