Tyrion will betray Daenerys

Tyrion Lannister and Daenerys Targaryen have come a long way since Jorah Mormont brings Tyrion to the queen, an offering for peace that initially backfires on him. Tyrion soon becomes one of Daenerys’ most trusted advisors, and she even made him the Hand of the Queen at the end of the sixth season.

Though Tyrion and Daenerys usually have a good relationship with one another, they have had some tense moments of disagreement throughout the series. Tyrion doesn’t always support Daenerys’ impulsive actions, and Daenerys is clearly bothered by the fact that her Hand of the Queen still cares for his Lannister relatives. Some fans believe that these tensions between them will escalate during the eighth season, leading Tyrion to betray her.

This notion is backed by the fact that Cersei and Tyrion meet during the seventh season of the show, seemingly so that Tyrion can convince her to aid Jon and Daenerys in the fight against the White Walkers. During that meeting, Tyrion tells Cersei that he never wanted to destroy the Lannister family, and the two come to an off-screen agreement after Tyrion’s realization that Cersei is pregnant.

Fans have suggested that this agreement may not have been in Daenerys’ favor, particularly given that Cersei immediately goes back on the expectation that she’ll march her army to aid the north against the White Walkers. But does she go back on her deal with Tyrion, or is this part of her deal with Tyrion? We hope it’s the former, but on Game of Thrones, you just never know.
