Jon and Daenerys will rule Westeros together
As a Game of Thrones fan, being optimistic doesn’t typically tend to work out very well. But despite all of the shocking betrayals and deaths we’ve witnessed, we still believe that Daenerys and Jon ruling Westeros together is at least a possibility, albeit a small and somewhat naive one.
For years, Targaryens wed other Targaryens while sitting on the Iron Throne. For this reason, Jon’s heritage might work more to their advantage, driving them together instead of apart. And in addition to their bloodlines, you have to admit that the two make a pretty solid team. While Daenerys is impulsive and can border on being tyrannical at times, Jon is more practical. Their qualities would balance one another out if they were to rule the kingdom together.
When Melisandre speaks to Varys, she seems to agree that the two would do more as a team than they would as enemies. “I’ve done my part,” she tells him. “I’ve brought ice and fire together.” The way she says it makes it seem like she’s seen good come of their union in the flames, making us wonder if the two are meant to work together to defeat the White Walkers.
And it isn’t just Melisandre who seems to place importance on the merging of ice and fire. The name of George R.R. Martin’s entire book series is A Song of Ice and Fire. And while that song could be one of rivalry, it could also imply that the entire point of the series is to bring the two together. For the sakes of our favorite characters, we’re hoping that’s the case.
