Fans have been waiting a long time for Game of Thrones season 8, and they’ve come up with some pretty huge theories in the meantime.

The wait for Game of Thrones season eight has been a long one, and it’s felt even longer given the events of the seventh season. With the wall torn down by the Night King, there’s no longer any barrier between the army of the dead and our heroes. In addition to that, some of our major players are still squabbling over the Iron Throne.

The stakes for the eighth season are higher than ever. There are so many story lines to wrap up and so many things that can go wrong, it’s amazing that the showrunners will be able to squeeze the final season into just six episodes. And it’s equally amazing that fans have been able to contain themselves for an entire year between seasons.

Of course, Game of Thrones fans have found some ways to keep busy in the interim. For starters, there have been plenty of updates from the cast and crew, most of which confirm our hopes and fears: It seems everyone is in agreement that season 8 is going to be a wild ride.

With a year between seasons, there has also been plenty of time for fans to speculate on what’s going to happen next year.
