Jamie Parker stepping down from Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Broadway

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is about to look very different very soon on Broadway as Jamie Parker and other original Broadway cast members are stepping down and moving on.

The new cast of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway has been announced. They will perform for the very time on March 20, 2019. With the original Broadway cast, including Jamie Parker, Anthony Boyle, and Noma Dumezweni taking the stage for the very last time on March 17, 2019.

Stepping into the shoes of those who are leaving are Jack Snyder as Harry Potter. Diane Davis will be coming in as Ginny Potter. Nicholas Podany as Albus Potter. Mat Mueller will take on the role of Ron Weasley. Jenny Jules as Hermione Granger. With Nadia Brown as Rose Granger-Weasley. Bubba Weiler is appearing as Scorpius Malfoy. Jonno Roberts as Draco Malfoy.

More from Harry Potter

While Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will continue on Broadway, it is, in a way, an end of an era for Potterheads. Jamie Parker, Anthony Boyle, and Noma Dumezweni have been around since the Wizarding World production first performed on the West End. To a lot of fans, they are Harry, Hermione, and Scorpius. So to see them go will be sad.

I am sure the new cast members will be superb on stage and will deliver an amazing performance night after night to Potterheads. But, for some. It won’t be the same. There is just something about seeing original cast members perform.

Where Jamie Parker, Anthony Boyle, and Noma Dumezweni will go now is unclear. The casting announcements have only just been announced, and the change is not happening until 2019. So they themselves might not know yet.

Some fans will be hoping they will just be moving to a new venue and will continue playing their roles. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is on the way to San Fransisco so you never know, they could be moving over to the West Coast. Then again, they could be starting a new production, or maybe retiring. Who knows. Right now, it’s anybody guess.

We will just have to wait and see.
