Get the tissues ready, because there is a fine line between “feel-good” and “will make you blubber like a giant baby” and Queer Eye definitely crosses that line. In fact, it sprints so far past the line you might need two boxes of tissues by the end of season 2.

When it was first announced that they were remaking Queer Eye on Netflix, many people wondered if it was still relevant in our TV landscape. When the original show first aired on Bravo back in 2003, it was groundbreaking because gay men weren’t as commonplace on TV. Nowadays, people are a lot more comfortable with gay men, so is a makeover show featuring gay men making over straight men really worth it anymore? As a matter of fact, it was everything we ever needed.

The new Queer Eye introduced us to a brand new Fab Five, and honestly, what did we ever do without them? Tan, Antoni, Karamo, Bobby, and of course baby Jonathan all waltzed into our life and we never want them to leave again. They have a great chemistry with each other, as well as with their “heroes” (as they call the men and women they made over). The new series has them meeting both cisgender and trans men, and even the show’s first ever female makeover!

Best of all, the show has so much more heart. They all seem to love and care for each “hero” so much, and we got a chance to witness how they changed their lives. I’m telling you, there may not be a lot of episodes, but by the time you get through all 17, you will feel emotionally exhausted but also uplifted.
