Aggretsuko: We Wish You a Metal Christmas

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina isn’t the only Netflix holiday special this year that’s getting some attention! Aggretsuko is an anime show about an anthropomorphic red panda, Retsuko, who loves to sing death metal, despite being an introvert who works in accounting and never stands up for herself.

For the Christmas special, Retsuko and all of her office friends come together to wish you a very “metal” Christmas ahead of the show’s second season, which is set to be released in 2019. There isn’t much to say about the special since it hasn’t aired at the time of writing this, but it will definitely be an entertaining one. Last season on Aggretsuko, Retsuko was infatuated with Resasuke, nicknamed “Space Cadet” on the English version of the show, who works in the sales department at her work, and Retsuko’s boyfriend. The season ended with her telling Resasuke about her love of death metal karaoke. Is that a deal-breaker?

For the special, they’re tackling something many of us can relate to. Retsuko is trying to desperately make Christmas Eve plans, but her obsession with social media and the validation she gets from it is starting to spiral out of control. See, even anime pandas have self-esteem issues when it comes to social media! To get fans even more excited, the teaser for the special teaser features a performance from Rancid’s Tim Timebomb.
