He-Man and She-Ra: A Christmas Special

As you might be able to tell, every TV show, especially cartoons, had to have a Christmas special of some kind. And in the ’80s, it was especially common. So really, He-Man and She-Ra: A Christmas Special isn’t that unexpected, but it still begs the question, why?!

In this hour-long Christmas special based on the series He-Man and the Masters of the Universe and its popular spin-off She-Ra: Princess of Power, He-Man and She-Ra join together to stop Horde Prime from ruining Christmas for the Earth children who found themselves stranded on the planet Eternia.

Everyone is preparing for Prince Adam and Princess Adora’s birthday when Orko sneaks onto the Sky Spy — a space shuttle intended to spy on Skeletor — and messes with the controls, which sends the ship blasting off into the sky. Skeletor sees the shuttle, not knowing who’s in it, and chases after it, and He-Man and She-Ra go after it too, still unaware that Orko is in it. They throw the ship off course, and Orko uses a magic spell to try to help the Sky Spy land, and instead disappears from Eternia and crash lands on Earth.

While on Earth, Orko meets two children, Miguel and Alisha, who got lost while looking for their family Christmas tree. He brings them aboard the Sky Spy and they explain the concept of Christmas to him. Back on Eternia, when they finally discover Orko is missing, they try and figure out how to get him back home. They figure out he’s on Earth, but can’t use the Transport Beam to bring him back unless they get a Carium Water Crystal from Eternia, Princess Adora’s home planet. She transforms into She-Ra and heads out to get one.

When they finally manage to get Orko home, they realize he has the two children and their Christmas tree, and find out it might take a few days before they can get them home. The kids are obviously worried by that statement, because that means they might miss Christmas!

In the end, the kids get home safely, but not before He-Man dresses up like Santa to give them a gift and share the true meaning of Christmas: “Though we celebrate it and get presents, Christmas is about caring, sharing, and goodwill. And its spirit is within all of us.”
