The Harry Potter legacy: Fighting over which house is the best house

facebooktwitterreddit

It doesn’t matter how old we are or how many things we see in the series, we’re all still going to fight over our Harry Potter houses.

As a Gryffindor, I must say that part of the joy of being a fan of the Harry Potter series is our love of our house. Then again, every house feels that way. It’s part of what being a Harry Potter fan is all about. We’re a group of individuals who love this series and what it represents and that means loving the house we’ve sorted ourselves into.

Whether it is Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Slytherin, or Gryffindor, we all connect to the house because it is what we related to most when reading the series. Maybe we got sorted by a Meyers-Briggs test or maybe there is some other reason we chose to be in our house but, either way, we have a connection to it because it is something we love. It’s easy to forget that the Harry Potter series isn’t just about magic and a dark lord.

It is about feeling connected and being with those who mean the most to us and, like Harry, a lot of those friends are part of our Hogwarts houses. Then again, we can be friends with other houses. (Two of my best friends are Slytherins, we just don’t talk about it.)

But being proud of your house, loving what we associate with makes us proud fans and it is part of what makes the Harry Potter fandom so special.
