Game: Return of the Obra Dinn
Given that this writer mainly plays RPGs on her computer, and prefers JRPGs at that, I tooled around looking for some good, more general PC recommendations, only to find that Polygon added Return of the Obra Dinn to its “Best PC Games to Download” list.
I’ll admit, Papers, Please did not really grab me as much as it did other people, but Return of the Obra Dinn seems like a different beast entirely. Suffice it to say that it’s now on my wishlist, too. Moreover, it comes with a unique presentation style, as you can see in the above video, and it has a story that seems like it could only be told on PC before migrating to other systems, as Papers, Please has done.
Accessory: Razer Deathadder Elite
Much in the same way that I need PC general game recommendations, PC Gamer also helped me find an affordable PC gaming accessory: the Razer Deathadder Elite. There are some who will always prefer their mouse and keyboard when gaming on a computer, and this mouse is meant for those people.
However, this mouse also isn’t terribly overdesigned, which can be a problem with gaming peripherals for PC; it’s got a clean form while also promising that it can withstand “up to 50 million clicks,” which is a lot even for gaming. The best part? It’s at a pretty reasonable $40 as of this writing, meaning it’s a pretty budget option that comes with a pedigree.
Happy gift giving, and happy shopping!
