Game: Rare Replay

Best-suited for the gamer with a sense of history (and, of course, limited by the fact that many of the Xbox One’s games are cross-platform), Rare Replay is a gift that becomes many gifts, in the sense that it’s actually 30 games in one. Giving someone the gift of nostalgia is usually a pretty great idea, and just getting their hands on three N64 classics (without having to buy used copies at inflated prices) in the form of Banjo-Kazooie, Banjo-Tooie, and Perfect Dark should make your gamer happy.

If you’ve got a slightly bigger budget, you can also consider Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition.

Accessory: Play and Charge Kit

Xbox One controllers still use batteries in 2018, which seems like an odd choice considering that both other consoles use recharging batteries in their first-party controllers. Notably, this kit comes directly from Microsoft, although it only contains one battery pack, not two or more to make sure that your gamer can switch over all of their controllers to rechargeable batteries. It might not hurt to get more than one in that case; either way, not having to shell out for regular batteries is a gift that can keep on giving. (Amazon has its own house brand version of this kit, which gives two battery packs for the price of one from Microsoft.)
