What happens if the blood pact is broken to be shown in Fantastic Beasts 3

Director David Yates and producer David Heyman have been talking about the all-important blood pact and what it means for Fantastic Beasts 3.

If you have watched Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. Then you will already know what this post is going to talk about regarding the blood pact and Fantastic Beasts 3. If you haven’t seen the latest Wizarding World movie yet, then I suggest you go and see it otherwise this is either going to be a major spoiler or really confusing.

So we learned in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald the reason why Dumbledore is unable to go up against Grindelwald, and vice versa, why Grindelwald cannot go up against Dumbledore. The blood pact.

A pact the two of them made, swearing they would not fight one another. A pact that looks as though it will have dire consequences if broken. Similar to the Unbreakable Vow.

And that is what has been the big talking point right now. How different is this from the Unbreakable Vow? If either Dumbledore was to break his vow, or equally if Grindelwald was to break his vow, what would happen?

Well, Director David Yates and producer David Heyman have been talking about just that with Empire Film Podcast and they revealed some pretty interesting stuff.

"“…if they do fight each other, Dumbledore has to pay a terrible price.”“…he is then committed to doing something, which we will discover in the next story.”"

So at first glance, it definitely looks like there are some serious consequences to breaking the pact, just like the Unbreakable Vow. But, unlike the Unbreakable Vow, it doesn’t look sound like breaking a blood pact results in death, but something else entirely.

Thankfully we won’t be waiting long to get the details. As Director David Yates and producer David Heyman pointed out it, in the next story we will learn what those consequences are, a.k.a in Fantastic Beasts 3. Which is great because being honest, I’m super impatient and don’t fancy waiting until the fifth installment to find out.

This announcement backs up what J.K. Rowling revealed recently. Upon completion of the script for Fantastic Beasts 3, she told everyone answers are given. And it looks like one such answer will be what happens if you break a blood pact?
