Discovery of the women on the Eagle
The crew discovers a ship floating in space, and naturally, an away team heads out to discover what is happening. Instead of finding a crew adrift, they find a strange colony of women onboard, all of whom are lying about why they are there — because their leader has convinced them that this is the life for them all.
Determined to kill the men in their group, this ship is terrifying because the women emerge from the woodwork, taking over and showing that they outnumber those who came onto the Eagle. Lommie knows how to play along, using their leader to her advantage and doing what is necessary to save her crew. But there is a fear of what this group is standing for.
In short, the women of the Eagle are building a world where women completely tear down the idea of men for what they are doing? Is it a message for our own society and how some may be viewing men nowadays? It wouldn’t be too far off, since the entire show is based around the idea of us having to look for life elsewhere because we’ve used all our own resources on earth.
The Eagle though goes to the extreme, blindly trusting a woman who is, essentially, starting a cult. She wants these women to just “believe” in her and her message no matter the cost. It takes Lommie murdering her for Lommie, Melantha, and the crew of the Nightflyer to get out of the ship alive, and all the women chase after them ready to kill.
