Karl’s blood in the probe

Karl sends out the White Rabbit to see if they can gather information about the volcryn before meeting them. What he doesn’t expect is to find it back in his room. Lommie, Rowan, and Karl then begin to examine the probe, discovering that it has blood inside. Through their research, they find that the volcryn sent a message with it.

That message? Giving the probe some of Karl’s DNA, showing their abilities as a species. At the time, the three don’t know what the message means, even as they’re trying to keep the probe alive long enough to figure out what is happening with it. The problem is that Cynthia doesn’t want it on the ship and continues to make the room hotter and hotter, trying to overheat the probe and kill it.

A terrifying moment comes when Lommie plugs herself into the probe, trying to gather information from the volcryn before it completely dies. When she can finally unplug and escape into the real world once again, all of Karl’s blood that the volcryn filled the probe with begins to gush out onto the floor of his room.

The probe, for most of the season, is still a mystery to them all, as it’s a complex message that they don’t understand. Neither Lommie nor Thale can figure out exactly what it means. Is it just that they have the ability to create life? Is the Skye that Karl sees later real then, since the volcryn could recreate his blood? What exactly are they saying?
