Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is an interactive experience for everyone in NYC
Swing into Sony Square while in New York City to experience state of the art Sony products and a look into Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
Venturing into the Spider-Verse can seem daunting, but have no fear! Sony’s making it both fun and easy to do so thanks to an interactive experience in New York City.
Open now until January 27, New York City’s Sony Square allows Spidey fans to jump into the many worlds (and webs) Miles Morales has just recently discovered in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Come on by anytime between11 a.m. and 7 p.m. to get in on all the spidey fun with Sony’s interactive Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse Experience.
For example, this Friday when I first checked out the Spider-Man focused experience, animation students from New York University were treated to a Q&A with Justin K. Thompson, the production designer for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. He discussed some of his inspirations for the movie as well as the importance of its story.
Thompson emphasized his love of Spider-Man and the entire universe of Spider characters while answering questions about animation, making it clear that this project wasn’t just about changing the way we see comic book movies but was also a passion project. Working in tandem with Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the three brought the story to life, ensuring Miles’ story was told to the best of their abilities. Of course, audiences are also treated to Spidey pals like the OG Peter Parker and Gwen Stacey, but at the end of the day, Into the Spider-Verse is the origin story of Miles Morales.
Showing step by step guides to how some of the animations worked in the film, Thompson explained why he wanted the comic book feel to come across to the audience and how all the different universes worked together.
Now that the experience is open for the public, it’s clear that the spirit of Spider-Man is alive and well in New York City! Sony helps to fully immerse you in the world of Miles Morales and with the Xperia 3D creator, you feel like you’re Spider-Man yourself! Whether you’re an adult, teen or child, anyone can enjoy being put right into the trailer, complete with your own spidey name and look! From there, you can step onto a platform to watch a scene from the movie, moving with the characters, hanging out (or webbing out?) alongside Miles and Peter as they fly through Manhattan attached to a subway car.
Sony’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse Experience also offers Insta-friendly photo opportunities, putting you in scenes like hanging from a building with the rest of your Spidy pals right behind you.
But that’s not all the event offers. You can also get a look at new Sony tech, such as entertaining new games and cameras. (Hint: Before you leave the experience, you can use your own camera to scan a code and see Miles hanging on the walls of the room!)
In the end, be sure to leave your mark with a “Hello my name is…” card just like Miles Morales in the movie.
So for those hanging out in New York City during the holidays, or for you lucky ones who live nearby and can check this experience out multiple times, you won’t want to miss taking a trip through the Spider-Verse!
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is in theaters now. See Peter Parker, Miles Morales, Gwen Stacey and the rest of the Spider-People save the world… or worlds… basically, the universe.
