Shameik Moore has Black Panther on his Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse wishlist

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’s star has one Avenger on his wishlist for a team up with Miles Morales. And what could be more perfect than Black Panther?

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is finally in theaters, but that doesn’t mean we can’t look to the future already. And for a movie that’s certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, we don’t see why this movie wouldn’t have a bright future ahead of it. (*Cough* Let’s get a sequel.)

The actors, of course, share our excitement for the movie. And Shameik Moore, the voice of Miles Morales, even has someone on his wishlist for Morales to team up with the next time around. Speaking to We Got This Covered, Moore reveals he’d have a certain Avenger be on Miles’ side if he had it his way.

“Miles should team up with … It might be dope to go ahead and get the Black Panther and Miles collaboration. I mean, it’s possible,” Moore says in the interview.

Jake Johnson, who plays Peter Parker in the movie, follows up on that with the same level of enthusiasm — even poking fun at the alternate universe concept that Into the Spider-Verse centers on.

“That’d be funny if Black Panther was the same in every universe,” he says. “Everybody else changes, or he’s always like, ‘Well, that’s the Black Panther right there.’ But I can see Miles jumping around with the Black Panther.”

Even though this is just wishful thinking on their part, there’s no denying that a team-up between Black Panther and Miles Morales would be amazing. This year, we’ve learned the impact that Black Panther had on fans, especially black audiences. To see such a strong, intelligent and all-around successful black superhero was amazing and inspiring.

Miles Morales, too, has his share of being inspirational to audiences. Afro-Latinx visibility in film is rare, and so it comes as no surprises that Miles’ character is being praised for his impact on audiences as well.

But, could we expect to see Black Panther in a film like Into the Spider-Verse? The answer is maybe.

Earlier this week, we discussed if it was possible for Doctor Strange to be featured Into the Spider-Verse. The producers of the movie originally had him planned to make a cameo in the film, despite Doctor Strange being a Disney property, and Spider-Man being a Sony property. You can read our full answer here.

But long story short, Disney characters have already been in Sony movies. So we can’t count out Black Panther just yet. If the producers are listing, we hope they take Moore and Johnson’s recommendation seriously, because fans would love it.
