Spider-Man PS4’s Silver Lining trailer teases you-know-who is back already
By Mia Johnson
The final DLC for Spider-Man: The City That Never Sleeps features one character already making a comeback. But it might not be the character you were hoping for.
As Doctor Strange says, we’re in the endgame now. At least when it comes to Marvel’s Spider-Man for PS4. After the game launched in September, Insomniac Games planned to have new content released each month through December — which we saw through The City That Never Sleeps DLC bundle.
“The Heist,” featuring Black Cat, released in October and “Turf Wars,” featuring Hammerhead, was released in November. And as fast as time flies, we’re just about a week away from the final DLC, “Silver Lining” with none other than Silver Sable.
Now that we’re one step closer to getting the last DLC, PlayStation released a teaser trailer to show what’s in store for the last installment. In the last DLC, Spider-Man was hot on the tail of Hammerhead, after witnessing Black Cat die (or disappear, rather). We also witnessed Hammerhead take a fatal blow, but his fate was a little more clear: he was going to survive.
The synopsis from the PlayStation blog teases:
"Silver Sable has stormed back to reclaim her stolen Sable International tech. With New York Police Chief Yuri Watanabe on administrative leave following her exploits against Hammerhead, Spider-Man will have to rely on unlikely allies to keep Marvel’s New York safe.Marvel’s Spider-Man: Silver Lining features new missions, new and upgraded enemy and crime types, along with upgraded Hammerhead bases and storyline quests. There will also be new trophies, challenges, and three new suits for players to unlock."
As part of the DLC, you’ll also get three new suits for Spidey to wear. The first is pretty exciting, seeing as the game developers teamed up with the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse folks. You’ll get to wear the Spider-Man suit featured in Into the Spider-Verse. And hopefully, like the comic book suit in the game, it’ll have a bit of that unique animated flair from the movie.
The other suits in the pack include a Cyborg Spider-Man suit and a neat Aaron Aikman armor suit.

We’re also hoping this DLC will be a bit more expensive in the storytelling. “The Heist” was a good addition, but “Turf Wars” was lacking a lot. And don’t get me wrong, the gameplay for each of those was quite astounding. But compared to the games’ original storyline, the excitement just wasn’t there.
It feels like Insomniac might have challenged themselves too much in releasing one DLC a month (right after the game launched), and maybe it would have paid off better if they had just given themselves more time.
Although, as this DLC wraps up The City That Never Sleeps expansion, we at least hope to hear some good news about Black Cat. As pesky as she might be as an anti-villain, I did grow to like her character. And I wish there was more of her than a character like, say, Hammerhead.
The last installment, “Silver Lining,” will be available to download on Dec. 21.
