Fantastic Beasts: We’re still not over McGonagall never aging and always working

You’d think that, by now, it’d be easy to remember that Minerva McGonagall is in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald and yet here we are yet again.

Ever stop and think about Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald and remember that Minerva McGonagall wasn’t even born yet? Yes, we’re still on about that. Simply because it is frustrating. The fact that McGonagall, a character beloved by everyone who has read the Harry Potter series can’t even get the right treatment is a bit problematic.

The entire movie throws questions in the air with no answers but the fact that she is a woman who was born in the 1930s is teaching at Hogwarts in the 1910s is a problem. And sure, people are saying it could have been her mother but her mother was not a McGonagall and didn’t teach at Hogwarts. Sorry to ruin your justification.

It was just meant to get our attention, to give us something so we could say “oh, she was Harry’s professor as well”! And we didn’t need that. Especially because we already had Dumbledore. All you had to do was let Dumbledore teach Transfiguration, the class he taught while at Hogwarts, and we would have been satisfied.

Instead, we got McGonagall teaching when she wasn’t even alive yet and Dumbledore teaching Defense Against The Dark Arts basically because they wanted a boggarts scene. So, it was unnecessary. Here’s the thing: If you’re not going to do our favorite characters justice, maybe just don’t. Maybe don’t relate back to them and don’t bring them up.
