Spider-Man: Far From Home will feature a Mysterio and Spider-Man team-up
Sony hasn’t debuted an official Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer to the public yet; however, we do have a written description of the trailer to fuel all our fan theories.
After the well-deserved hype from the Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame trailers, we were anticipating a Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer to cap this marvel-ous week. Although the Far From Home trailer has reportedly been delayed until later this month, we have a written description of the trailer, thanks to the Sony panel at the 2018 Brazil Comic Con (CCXP).
According to IGN, the trailer starts with Happy Hogan attempting to flirt with Aunt May (and we can’t blame him). Then it transitions to Peter Parker who leaves his spidey suit at home, so he can take a necessary vacation from being a hero. Though there aren’t any references in the trailer at CCXP about Avengers: Infinity War or Avengers: Endgame, we can assume Peter’s travel-induced self-care might be necessary from Thanos-related events.
After Peter, Ned, and Michelle arrive in Italy for their school trip (and Peter’s secret vacation from being Spider-Man), Nick Fury finds Peter to recruit him for a mission. Unlike our earlier assumptions that Mysterio would be the main villain in Spider-Man: Far From Home, the trailer apparently shows that Spider-Man and Mysterio work together to some a couple of elemental bad guys: Molten Man and Hydro-Man.
We already got a sneak peek of Hydro-Man’s abilities from Tom Holland (who portrays Spider-Man) when he coyly added a video of his stunt double on Instagram. Obviously, this clip was a strategic marketing ploy for the film. The written description of the trailer gives us more insight into Mysterio’s apparent friendly relationship with other characters in Spider-Man: Far From Home.
As IGN adds, Mysterio seems to align himself in some capacity with Nick Fury. Although Mysterio seems to be moonlighting as a hero, despite his canon villainous persona in his multitudes of comic book appearances, the fishbowl-wearing pseudo-hero might not be a hero throughout the entire film.
The illusionist villain known as Mysterio is one of Peter Parker’s notorious enemies in Marvel Comics history. Apart from his evil-doing, Mysterio is also canonically obsessed with praise, stardom, and publicity. While Mysterio helps Spider-Man fight the seemingly main villains, he could be gaining Peter and S.H.I.E.L.D.’s trust to attack them in a later appearance (or even later in the same film).

As he gains positive public attention, he could use that to disguise himself as a noble hero, while he gains vital information about Peter Parker, his friends, his family, and his deep-rooted fears to inevitably destroy him later.
If his cinematic counterpart is anything like his comic book iterations, Mysterio just wants international appreciation for his abilities and tricks, and we have a feeling his heist to help Spider-Man defeat Molten Man and Hydro-Man could be a front for him to get closer to the hero, destroy his heroic reputation, and continue to reap the praise for his fake-heroism.
