Family Guy -“A Very Special Family Guy Freakin’ Christmas”

It seems like every TV family has a dysfunctional Christmas, and they’re always so bad that they make our families look like royals! On this season 3 episode of Family Guy, the Griffin family’s Christmas might be ruined if Lois can’t fix Peter’s giant mistake. She had repeatedly told him to remember to donate a present to charity, but since he wasn’t listening, he accidentally donates all of the family’s Christmas presents to a children’s charity instead.

Lois is happy that they can help those less fortunate than them, but is furious that she has to redo all the Christmas shopping right before Christmas, so she insists the entire family comes along. Peter doesn’t want to miss Kiss Saves Christmas on TV — a Christmas special featuring the rock band Kiss — but Lois brings everyone with her anyway, except Brian, who stays home to keep an eye on the turkey.

The mall is hell, because of course it is on Christmas Eve, but they manage to get everything they need. But the hell of the mall is nothing compared to what is going on at home. A rogue ember from the fireplace shoots out onto the rug, starting a fire. Brian tries to put it out only to discover that the one fire extinguisher Peter has is filled with plastic snakes. He tries to put out the fire in the living room while the turkey is burning in the oven. He ends up ruining the turkey, destroying the living room, and burning the fur off his hands.

As most moms do, Lois keeps a level head and tells them it’s fine, that Christmas is a time for being together no matter what happens, they just need to clean up a bit and find some holiday cheer. But when Meg tells her they’re out of paper towels, she flips out. That’s the final straw for her! She loses it on the family, crashes through the window, and tells them off.

Moms, am I right?
