The Mindy Project – “Christmas Party Sex Trap”
There’s no better time than Christmas to plan an elaborate meet-cute scenario for you and the guy you have a crush on, or at least that’s how Mindy feels on this season 2 episode of The Mindy Project. She has a crush on Cliff, the cute lawyer who works in the building, so she throws a Christmas party just so she can invite him. But things don’t go as planned, because when do they ever?
First, to appeal to everyone in the building, Mindy’s party is both alcohol and gluten-free, which already sounds like a real downer, but she has a plan: she’s going to flirt with another guy to make Cliff jealous, seduce him with a performance of “Santa Baby,” and then go outside on the terrace to “get some air” where he will go out and join her and the two will live happily ever after, blah blah blah. Obviously, that doesn’t happen. Mindy can’t find any hotties to flirt with, Cliff leaves before her song, and there’s no one waiting for her outside.
Danny’s secret present for Mindy, though, really makes everything so much better. Danny is usually pretty conservative and old-school. Even though he hates Mindy’s crazy plans and her generally laid back demeanor, there is always a certain spark between them that made the audience beg for them to get together. When Mindy’s “sex trap” for Cliff fails, a possible hookup with Danny seems possible, at last!
But back to Danny’s gift. Instead of buying her something she would probably hate, he gives her a gift that she would never have expected: a dance. Dr. Castellano explains how she used to always listen to this song (“Try Again” by Aaliyah) when she first started and he hated it, but as a gift to her, he choreographed a sexy dance to it.
If that wasn’t enough to make us all fall in love with Danny even more, he’s also crazy intense about building a gingerbread house (house is an understatement). A man who’s a doctor, knows how to dance, is sexy as hell, AND loves Christmas?! Sign us up, please!
