Star Wars Resistance preview: Captain Phasma and her forces arrive

Poe and Kaz are exploring a First Order station to find out what it was originally used for when Captain Phasma and her forces arrive to destroy it.

“Station Theta Black” is the final Star Wars Resistance episode of 2018, and with Captain Phasma setting detonation charges across the station, it will surely end with a bang. The question is whether Poe and Kaz will get out of the mess unscathed.

While Poe is a set character in the story, since he appears in the live-action sequel trilogy movies, nothing serious can happen to him. Kaz, on the other hand, is a different story. We don’t know where he and the rest of the original cast will end up by the time we reach Star Wars: The Force Awakens or even Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

As previously seen in Star Wars Rebels and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, no original character is safe. Some might die and others will have to endure the pain of that loss. While Star Wars Resistance is geared toward a much younger audience, death is still a universal experience that affects us at any age, so we don’t plan on ruling it out.

With Captain Phasma looking to destroy this station and intent on finding the intruders, will Kaz be captured? Will he suffer some sort of injury as he and Poe try to escape the inevitable destruction of this mining facility? There could be a serious cliffhanger at the end of this episode, keeping us on the edge of our seats until new episodes arrive in 2019.

Back when Star Wars Resistance first started, we originally stated how we wanted to see a more intimidating and calculating Captain Phasma. While she seemed imposing in the movies, she kind of fizzled out quickly, having been defeated two times in a row by the ex-stormtrooper Finn.

Since then, we’ve seen her a handful of times and we think the writers have done a great job at presenting Phasma in a different light. While we love the good guys and support the Resistance’s cause, we would also love to see Phasma have a victory in this episode. Something that makes her as intimidating as Darth Vader.

After all, Kaz has been on a lucky streak, especially when it comes to dealing with the First Order. He’s narrowly escaped death and being captured, so fate catching up to him in this final episode of the first half of the season would portray Phasma as a more efficient and ruthless character.

There’s also the matter of the mining station itself. What has the First Order been digging up? We thought it could be something like kyber crystals or thorilide, a mineral that was dug up by the Republic and the Empire and used for weapons in the novel Star Wars: A New Dawn by John Jackson Miller. Whatever it was they were digging, they’re now looking to get rid of the evidence, and Poe and Kaz happen to be in the middle of it.

There’s no doubt this episode will be just as exciting as the ones that came before it, so we’re eager to watch it all play out and possibly discover more First Order secrets.
