Jake Gyllenhaal joined Instagram and teased a Marvel role all in one day
Fans of Marvel’s Spider-Man finally got the confirmation they’ve been waiting for: Jake Gyllenhaal is playing Mysterio in the upcoming Far From Home movie.
Great news, folks! Jake Gyllenhaal expanded his social media presence and kicked it off in the best way possible. The actor created his very own Instagram, and his first post is a memorable hit.
For months, fans of the Marvel franchise have speculated whether or not Gyllenhaal will, in fact, be playing the new villain, Mysterio, in the upcoming Spider-Man: Far From Home. And now it seems we have confirmation from the actor himself.
Gyllenhaal posted a video of himself on the social media site, reading an issue of The Amazing Spider-Man comic titled The Return of the Man Called Mysterio!. As the camera pans back, we see a confused and shocked Gyllenhaal who can’t quite fathom the events going on in the scene he is reading.
“Whoa. What the f–” he mutters before the video cuts out. He aptly captioned the post “I just realized I’m not playing Spider-Man.”
In just a short amount of time, the video has already accumulated around 100,000 views and received comments from notable celebrities including fellow Marvel actors Zendaya and Mark Ruffalo. At the time of writing this story, Gyllenhaal already has well over 100,00 followers on the platform. Fans simultaneously welcomed the Far From Home villain to Instagram telling him that his joining Instagram was past due.
The upcoming Marvel movie is the sequel to the Spider-Man: Homecoming film released last year and follows Peter Parker (played by the illustrious and fan-adored Tom Holland) as he joins his classmates on a school trip overseas. The movie will once again feature Zendaya, Marisa Tomei, and Jacob Batalon, with the addition of Samuel L. Jackson and Cobie Smulders who will reprise their roles as Nick Fury and Maria Hill.
