Charmed preview: Mel is torn between the Elders and her own destiny
By Evie Taylor
The preview clip for the next episode of Charmed, titled “Bug A Boo,” introduces brand new character, Jada, as she tries to recruit Mel to join her.
Mel has had her disagreements with the Witch Elders throughout this season, doubting their judgment and going against their decisions and advice by following her own instincts. This proved valuable when the Charmed Ones ignored the Elders’ instructions to vanquish the Harbinger of Hell, and the sisters managed to save Angela Wu from the demon’s possession.
Even the girls’ whitelighter, Harry, was persuaded to go against the Elders and his decision paid off, which meant his opinion of the girls and their abilities would have changed. Harry clearly values the girls and appreciates that they make their own choices, particularly in the case of Mel who is the most strong-willed and has a stubborn character.
Mel might be faced with another dilemma causing her to turn against the Elders in this week’s episode as a new character, Jada, accuses the Elders of imprisoning witches, and wants to recruit Mel and use her powers for her own cause. This will likely result in an even bigger rift between the Charmed Ones and the Elders, as Mel is unsure who to trust.
The Elders and Harry insist that Jada is manipulating Mel, where as Jada tries to convince Mel that she has so much more potential and shouldn’t let the Elders control her, or hold her back from being more powerful and doing bigger things.
We are unsure whether Jada is a witch or a demon yet, but as Mel is so independent and rebellious, she might be tempted to work with Jada and push the Elders away, allowing herself more freedom and choice on how and when to use her powers. Mel might be longing for power and a purpose, as well as control over her own life, after losing her job this season.

The new relationship between Jada and Mel is sure to be explored in this episode, as Mel must make an enormous decision. If the Elders are right, Jada might be manipulating Mel, tempting her to the dark side. Will Maggie and Macy have a say in Mel’s potential partnership with Jada?
