After the huge reveal in last week’s episode involving Maggie’s new boyfriend, Parker, being half-demon, we have questions about Parker’s real motives.
The slightly mysterious and flirty character of Parker has been on youngest sister Maggie’s radar throughout this season and has caused some tears in her social life. Originally dating Lucy, the head of Maggie’s sorority, which causes friction in Maggie’s social life, Parker eventually asks Maggie out and she agrees.
Maggie is arguably the most sociable sister and has spent most of her time in the episodes helping out her older sisters with their love lives. Maggie gives Macy advice on how to open up and be sexier, and is also there for Mel when she breaks up with her girlfriend. The fact that Maggie has the power to read minds and is incredibility empathetic strengthens her character’s personality even more. However, it seems Maggie has been so preoccupied with helping her sisters, she has missed out on a romance of her own; until now.
On the face of it, Maggie and Parker as a romantic couple looks perfect. However last week’s episode revealed that Parker is not all that he seems. Parker’s alter ego is a mysterious shadow demon working with his demonic father to help unleash the source of all evil.
This is a secret Maggie has not managed to foresee using her mind-reading powers, and could result in disastrous consequences. With Parker becoming closer to the Charmed Ones, he could provide vital insight to his father on their weaknesses and movements.
Although, is Parker completely evil? During the last episode, his father explains that Parker is only half-demon, presumably making the other half of him human. Parker’s connection with Maggie could be the result of the humanity inside of him, meaning he might actually have a crush on her.
The last scene of the episode implied that Parker feels pressured and forced by his father to carry out demonic acts of evil, with his father even threatening him and boasting that Parker’s brother, a full demon, was more useful. Parker also pleads with his father, not wanting to work with him anymore. This could suggest Parker doesn’t want to be evil, feeling drawn to his human side. With Maggie’s love and influence, Parker might be persuaded to break away from his demonic ways. The fact there is part of him that is human suggests there is still hope that Parker can do good.
Parker is actually reluctant to tell his dad what Maggie’s power is as well, which could be because he cares for her. Additionally, Maggie uses her powers in the last episode to feel that the shadow demon is in pain, implying Parker feels uneasy or that his loyalties are torn.
Parker might be working with his father out of fear or maybe he has love for him, but he clearly doesn’t agree entirely with his father’s outlook or in his mission to release the source of all evil.
There is definitely hope that the Charmed Ones can pull Parker away from his father’s clutches.
The only question is; Can Parker turn on his own family? The battle between choosing the side of good, and Maggie, or choosing to stay loyal to his father on the side of evil, will surely be a running theme in Parker’s story and it could go either way.
Parker’s demonic darkness inside of him might grow more dominant and take over him entirely, causing him to turn on Maggie. Then again, on the other hand, Parker might join forces with the girls to fight against his father and the source of all evil. His character has the flexibility to follow either path.
What do you think Parker wants? Can Maggie’s love change his motives? Let us know in the comments!
