Harry Potter and the Cursed Child helped to lead the way, with its own highest weekly sales. According to Deadline, the play, which is set 19 years after the seventh book, saw an average price of $180 per ticket. All 12,976 seats were sold out, grossing more than $2.3m. This is up from $2.27m set in June, the previous record for weekly ticket sales for a play.

Other productions that helped the new Broadway record included FrozenMean GirlsTo Kill a Mockingbird, and The Cher Show. The weekly sales saw an 18% increase from the previous week, with just 2% more seats sold, which means people were willing to pay more for their tickets.
