Hermione Granger and SPEW: Why she wanted to save the house elves so badly

When it came to SPEW, Hermione Granger wanted to make sure every house elf had a free shot. So why was she so interested in house elves and not other creatures?

Hermione Granger made it her duty to protect the house elves. First, there are a lot of problems in the magical community and house elves were just the tip of an iceberg. Second, Hermione seemed to forget about SPEW when things started getting crazier and crazier with Voldemort and the war.

So why didn’t Hermione focus on letting every enslaved creature have free will? Why not take note that goblins couldn’t go to Hogwarts or that magical creatures weren’t allowed to study magic at all? Instead, she started with the house elves because that was what was right in front of her.

The problem is that the movies ignore her work with SPEW and then don’t show that anything changes in the future because in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, magical creatures still can’t attend Hogwarts. So, we’re just to accept that no one gets made or that Hermione, when she is the Minister of Magic, doesn’t try and change the law?

To be honest, that’d be a wonderful legacy for Hermione to have in the future. So many magical creatures are extremely powerful and they don’t get the chance to attend Hogwarts. In fact, the only reason that Flitwick gets to teach is because he’s half-wizard.

So why was SPEW just dropped in the movies and why does Hermione not make it her duty to help magical creatures in the future?

Do you think SPEW wasn’t featured in the movies for a reason or do you think that it was inconsequential? Personally, SPEW was one of Hermione’s key moments and should have been featured more!
