Does UberEats or GrubHub deliver on Thanksgiving?
Just because it is the holidays, it doesn’t mean we all want to cook. And if you are not heading out on Thanksgiving, you may be wondering about food delivery.
Apps like UberEats and GrubHub are often our go-to source for delivery when we are hungry and not in the mood to cook. Plus, if you don’t want to leave the house, these services are extremely helpful. But, on Thanksgiving, we often think of big meals with friends and family, which means these apps are forgotten about.
At least we thought they were. The reality is that both UberEats and GrubHub are available 365 days of the year, including Thanksgiving and Christmas. As the UberEats FAQ page states, they are “available seven days a week, whenever restaurants near you are open and accepting orders.”
And GrubHub confirmed this when we emailed them to ask if they would still offer delivery services. In their response to us they pointed out that, “Grubhub as a company does deliver on holidays as we are 24/7/365. It depends on which restaurants are open and offering delivery as to whether it will be available in your area.”
That’s right, if you still want to order delivery, you can! So whether your plans fell through, you decided you didn’t want to go all out this year, or any other reason, it is still possible to get food delivered to your door thanks to both GrubHub and UberEats.
Basically, as long as the restaurants are actually open and taking orders, you can get your grub on. When you log into each app they will let you know where you can order from and if there are any additional service fees (it is Thanksgiving after all and that means less drivers available to pick up your food).
And you may even be surprised to know that Thanksgiving and the night before are actually some of the busiest times for the delivery services. As Fansided reported last year, GrubHub actually releases data about the holiday and what people order, with most people choosing breakfast foods like eggs and pancakes as their food of choice.
So whether your plans for the holiday fell apart or you simply had no desire to spend the entire day cooking (and then cleaning up afterwards), you can get your food delivered to you thanks to GrubHub and UberEats. You won’t be alone in having food delivered.
