Doctor Who: 25 time periods Thirteen and Team TARDIS should visit
By Lacy Baugher

Though Doctor Who is doing its best not to base too much of season 11 around the fact that the Doctor’s a woman now, it’s an impossible fact to ignore. (And, well, they did make that whole initial “It’s about time” marketing campaign. The powers that be know what’s up, even if the show itself isn’t saying so all the time.)
Therefore, it makes sense that the Thirteenth Doctor, the first female incarnation of the character, should explore the dawn of women’s suffrage in England. As a concept, maybe it’s a little too on the nose, girl power-wise. But it would also be so satisfying to watch.
Historical person our Doctor could meet: Emmeline Pankhurst seems the obvious choice. The leader of the suffragette movement obviously greatly impacted the future of Great Britain as we know it, yet her militancy caused much controversy, and the overall impact of her legacy is still hotly debated today. How would Doctor Who take on such a figure? Which “version” of her would the show choose to show us?
Furthermore, Pankhurst was arrested for her activism many times, and her militant attitude often rubbed people the wrong way. How might this Doctor, who seems particularly pacifist in this incarnation, react to her?
Potential adventures: Season 11’s “Rosa” explored a story in which the Doctor and friends had to make sure that history stayed on its correct course. A similar situation – perhaps even involving the same villain – surrounding a different trailblazing woman from history could also be worth watching.
