Iconic sci-fi series Doctor Who is at its best when it’s putting a new spin on history we thought we knew or looking into the future to help us understand our present. Here are 25 places Thirteen and friends should visit next.

Doctor Who is a show about time travel. Technically, it’s a show about a lot of things, including love, loss, joy, pain and hope, all delivered through a series of weekly adventures with a two-hearted alien and her rotating cast of friends. But at its most basic level, it’s a show about time travel, as the iconic blue police box bounces our heroes forward and backward in time.

Sure, there’s an occasional modern day episode, but those are by far the exception, rather than the rule. And that’s because when Doctor Who wants to comment on present day issues in some way, it does this most effectively by looking at how we got to where we are, or by exploring where we might be going. Also because let’s face it, it’s just cool to journey a thousand years into the future or jump back into the past to see what a famous moment in history was really like.

Now that the Doctor is a woman, historical stories have an especially intriguing flavor. There are certainly significant eras of human history which weren’t exactly into the idea of gender equality or even particularly friendly towards women. Yet, there are also certain historical moments that might be made even more poignant thanks to the presence of a female Time Lord. Here are 25 suggestions for time periods Doctor Who might visit in the Chris Chibnall era.
