Crazy Ex-Girlfriend review: Don’t get trapped in cars with people you don’t like

Rebecca and her friends all get trapped in cars with people they don’t like on this week’s Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. But the moral is, you learn something on the way.

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend has taken it to the road this week. When Rebecca wants to go to a great BBQ place, she finds that the only one of her friends who has the free time to join her is Darryl. Not to be out of a meal, Rebecca decides to go with Darryl, despite her better judgement, and ends up clearly regretting it.

Not to fret though, Rebecca isn’t the only one who gets stuck in a car with someone she doesn’t exactly like. Josh Chan works for a company that gets you a ‘bro’ with a truck to help you move things. So when Paula needs to go pick up a desk for her to study on, she ends up with her ‘bro’ being Josh. The two have quite the journey ahead of them to pick up the desk she plans on buying and, in the meantime, Josh shares his inner struggle to find his best self.

Heather also finds herself with a passenger she isn’t ecstatic about. Nathaniel comes into Home Base for his hamburger on a bed of cabbage and is rude to Heather when he’s sitting there. Unfortunately for Heather, she’s too nice of a person. When Nathaniel is stranded on the side of the road because he forgot to charge his car, Heather agrees to give him a ride.

So basically everyone is in a car with someone they don’t like.

Throughout the episode, Rebecca continues to tell Darryl she doesn’t want to talk about her feelings and just wants to have fun. So when Rebecca and Darryl finally make it to the restaurant and he starts to tell the hostess about Rebecca’s mental health issues, Rebecca is about done with everything that has happened with Darryl. So she lashes out.

The problem is that Darryl has been nothing but a good friend to Rebecca and is insulted with her reaction. Eventually, the two share a moment, realizing that they are good friends and, in their almost kiss, Rebecca notes that she can fall for nice guys and not just the jerks she’s always known.

Meanwhile, Paula is stalling. She doesn’t want to take her final, doesn’t want to study, so she basically keeps Josh at this house to avoid her responsibilities. Josh, surprisingly, calls her out and the two bond over their comfort levels and their need to break free from what they’ve known to do what is best for them (meaning Paula told Josh to move out of Hector’s mom’s house).

Nathaniel opens up to Heather about how all he people he’s ever loved leave him and the two share a moment on the side of the road when the ashes of his nanny explode all over Heather.

Everyone learned something throughout the episode, growing as people and connecting with one another like they hadn’t before and they all helped each other grow. Even if they were trapped in cars with people they don’t like.
