The Good Place review: Maybe Canada is just full of demons
The Good Place reveals Doug Forcett’s current state of life while the rest of our Soul Squad finds out that rural Calgary isn’t all its cracked up to be
As we head into the Thanksgiving break, The Good Place aims to leave us hanging yet again! I mean, it does it every week. Plus we finally meet the official, super famous Doug Forcett.
Let’s recap.
Welcome to the life of Doug Forcett. He’s out on a farm, growing his own food, completely off the grid. He only agrees to do an interview with Michael Scoop when he finds out his newspaper is printed on the most recycled paper.
But… he’s not really that great. He only eats radishes and lentils (and his own waste) and basically just does whatever anyone asks of him if it makes the person happy (i.e. a kid comes by and tells him to give Michael his shoe).
He kinds of breaks before Michael and Janet leave. He calls Michael Mark and melts down, then accuses Michael of lying. He also steps on a snail, buries it, and decides to walk to Edmonton to donate $85 to a snail charity. Because… why not?

Even when Michael tries to tell him to live a little, he’s earned enough points, he says he can’t. Why break some rules for a few fleeting moments of fun or joy if it’s going to earn you an eternity of torture?
The rest of the gang hangs out at a bar and as Eleanor readies to tell Chidi about their love life in a different timeline, the bar becomes full of demons — Shawn and his crew are here!
And we get the best badass fight scene ever because Janet knows all the ways to fight. Plus Michael gets to use the magic door to send the demons back to the Bad Place. It’s just a lot of fun and something that The Good Place doesn’t usually do.
In the aftermath, Michael contemplates the almighty point system. This whole experiment on Earth started because he believed the system didn’t allow for the possibility that people could improve. But the problems with the system might be much more serious. They need to gather more information and he and Janet need to go to The Accountant’s Office.
But before we can do that, Janet decides to take everyone to her void because more demons show up… and they may die when it happens!
Favorite Moment
Special Jacksonville Pool. You use your hands and make up points. Chidi’s really good at it really fast, awarding himself five million points.

So I didn’t even touch on Eleanor filling Chidi in on their love affair in the afterlife. Or how she does it in the middle of the brawl. Or how she actually confesses that she’s sure she’s in love with him now, too.
Also, and possibly more importantly — it comes to light because Chidi asks how she knew they were all demons in the bar. It’s a legitimate question! If she hadn’t been shown those memories, she wouldn’t have recognized any of them.
Well… I guess we’ll see whether they all survived Janet’s void when The Good Place returns after Thanksgiving.
