The Good Place preview: Let’s all head to rural Canada!
The Good Place is heading to rural Canada to try to change the world while Eleanor has to decide if she wants to share a big Good Place secret
The Good Place raised the stakes last week with the back-half of the episode, “The Worst Possible Use of Free Will.” And no, I’m not talking about picking up their friends at the airport.
Last week, we saw Michael and Eleanor debating free will. Once Eleanor let her defense mechanisms fall away, she realized that they may just be the most free people on the planet, knowing what exactly the afterlife holds. Michael now wants to make a beacon for humanity — and we’re pretty sure he wants to use Doug Forcett.
Here’s the official synopsis for this week’s episode, courtesy of NBC:
"Michael and Janet take an important journey. Eleanor ponders whether she should share a secret."
Eleanor’s secret has to be that she and Chidi fell in love in the fake Good Place. She kept it from him before and told him the truth, but is it fair to tell him now? We’ll have to see what ethical dilemma she comes up with for this debacle. And how Chidi responds. Maybe more candy Peeps chili? (Please no.)
But more importantly, D’arcy Carden posted this lovely nugget on her Twitter:
Yes. That is Lil Sebastian from Parks and Recreation. Now, I know there were some astute observers who think they may have seen him in the background of last week’s episode (during the whole “pick a pet” scene). That would make sense for this picture.
But we like to rumor-monger. Add crazy rumors to the Internet ethos. Because Lil Sebastian couldn’t have made it to the fake Good Place (since it’s technically the Bad Place). He’s too pure and sweet and… okay, I’m with Ben Wyatt — I don’t get it. But it’s okay! This picture proves that Parks and Rec and The Good Place exist in the same universe (if the Swanson Safe Company) wasn’t enough proof for you.
So how will Lil Sebastian show up this week? My bet is that Doug Forcett lives way out in rural Canada, out on a farm. And one of his steeds will just happen to be Lil Sebastian.
It would be a perfect lil’ cameo. Now if the background music happened to be “Five Thousand Candles in the Wind…”
