They may have lost their own Malibu home, but that’s not stopping Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus from giving back to their community.

The wildfires in California don’t care if you are a celebrity or not as they ravage the state and multiple communities. And as news continues to come out about the devastation being felt across the impacted parts of the state, there are celebrities sharing their stories, including Gerard Butler, Miley Cyrus, and Liam Hemsworth.

On social media, the stars have shared pictures of their losses, while also giving thanks for what was saved, such as friends, family, and animals. For Cyrus and Hemsworth, who shared a Malibu home together, the loss is one that will definitely be felt for some time to come. And yet, even as they reel from their loss, they are still looking to help others in need, as the celebrity couple has made a donation to The Malibu Foundation in the amount of $500,000, according to NBC 7 San Diego.

A representative for Miley Cyrus issued a statement regarding the couple’s donation which said that “community and state are very special to them and they want to give back to the place that has created so many beautiful memories for themselves and others.”

The hope is that with this donation, they are able to make a difference for other people who have been impacted by the fires who are less fortunate than themselves.

The major donation will be used to help others while also being put towards “those in financial need, emergency relief assistance, community rebuilding, wildfire prevention and climate change resilience.”

Both Hemsworth and Cyrus have shared photos of what is left of their home (the word LOVE left in the rubble).

Despite this destruction, the two have offered a hopeful message that now is the time to stay strong and help however you can. Instead of wallowing in their loss, Hemsworth and Cyrus are trying to give hope to others.

Through social media, both have shared news coverage of the fires and what people could do to help, sharing links for both the Malibu Foundation and the Happy Hippie Foundation plus other avenues for people to donate to those in need.

For those unfamiliar with the Happy Hippie Foundation, it is a charity organization founded by Cyrus which helps homeless youth, people in the LGBTQ community, and other vulnerable people and populations.
