Superstore preview: Amy meets the parents

On this week’s episode of Superstore, Amy gets close with Jonah’s parents thanks to a new initiative at Cloud 9.

Amy and Jonah have already reached the help-your-pregnant-girlfriend-give-birth-next-to-a-dead-woman stage of their relationship but this week, the couple takes things to the next level when Amy meets her beau’s parents for the first time.

Thanks to a new initiative at Cloud 9, Amy has a rather awkward run-in with Jonah’s family unit.

The store wants its employees to get to know their customer base better, which somehow translates to Jonah’s mom and dad stopping by. Besides getting a glimpse at the kind of people responsible for creating someone like Jonah — come on, you can’t deny you’re curious — the episode might also be setting up a new obstacle for everyone’s favorite couple.

It seems as though Jonah hasn’t been completely honest with his parents about his relationship with Amy. That could mean plenty of things. Perhaps they don’t know she’s his boss, maybe he didn’t tell them about the baby that isn’t his, or worst of all, they might not know the two are an item at all.

Whatever the secret is, it’ll come to light on this week’s episode and you can bet Amy won’t be happy about it.

This would be the point when we interjected with a “Well Amy didn’t tell her ex-husband about her romance with Jonah until the delivery day” but Amy is a new mom going through all kinds of weird hormonal rages right now, so we’ll be keeping mum. *

While Amy and Jonah work out the always-uncomfortable meet-the-parents phase of their relationship, Dinah and Garrett are stuck in a battle of smiles.

It seems the new initiative at the store has inspired the surly pair to see who can hold a toothy-grin longer. We’re not holding out hope for either employee here but whoever wins, it’s nice to see the two sharing some screen-time again.

Dinah and Garrett had some steamy scenes together last season and there still seems to be some sexual tension in the air. Now that Dinah’s given birth to Glenn’s baby, maybe the door has opened for yet another Cloud 9 romance?
