The Good Place: 4 people we want to see play Doug Forcett

The Good Place sounds like they’re off to find the infamous Doug Forcett. We have four people who we hope to see in this titular role.

Doug Forcett is a bit of a celebrity on The Good Place.

In case you don’t remember back to the pilot episode of the show, let’s do a quick recap: Doug Forcett is the only person to guess remotely close to the true afterlife. On a wild mushroom trip back in the ’70s, he described the reality of the afterlife with 92 percent accuracy.

Mike Schur has confirmed that Doug Forcett is, in fact, real. And in last week’s episode, Michael said they’re on their way to rural Alberta—and Doug is from Calgary, Alberta.

Now, the photo of Doug Forcett that hangs in Michael’s office in the Neighborhood is a picture of Noah Garfinkel, who’s actually a friend of The Good Place writer Joe Mande. So… he’s probably not going to play a live-action version of the character. Plus, his trip was in the 70s, so he’s going to be 50 years older.

So, we have some fun ideas for who can play the much-older Doug Forcett on the next episode of The Good Place. Please also keep in mind that most of these probably won’t happen and are more pipe dreams than anything.

Jeff Bridges

This one would be absolutely perfect. Getting the Dude to play the man who almost successfully figured out the afterlife? Please, yes. I don’t have any other reasons than the above and that it would be hilarious.

Bill Murray

I feel like if The Good Place could somehow pull this one off, they might just come out as one of the most surprising television shows ever (I mean, they are already). Last season, I had really wanted the mysterious Judge to be Bill Murray, but pinning that man down is probably ridiculously hard.

Still, Murray is one of the few actors who can pop up anywhere and everyone is just happy to see him. Showing up on The Good Place as a former (or still current?) stoner that Michael has to convince to be a beacon for humanity sounds right up his alley.

William Shatner

Shatner’s probably not even in contention for showing up on television anymore. But if the show really wanted to go all-out, this would be a pretty good choice. And a surprising one, too.

Besides, when was the last time William Shatner showed up in something? He does a lot of voice work nowadays, so getting him to pop up would be a shocker for sure.

Harrison Ford

Okay, scratch that—this one is the long-shot. You’d probably have to drag Harrison Ford onto the set and bait him with anything and everything he would want.

But it would be awesome to see a Doug Forcett who’s not the gleaming beacon of hope for humanity that Michael’s after. An angry, turned-sour-to-the-world Doug who gave up on any sort of afterlife possibility sometime in the ’90s?

Who else but Harrison Ford could pull that one off?
