Nobody is up for a Harry Potter movie reboot, but we all seem to be up for a TV series of some sorts. Here are 7 Harry Potter TV Shows we would like to see happen.

So a little while ago, we asked the question, should we ever remake the Harry Potter movies? And you all pulled together and made it very clear that no! You would not like to see the Harry Potter movies remade. However, the idea of Harry Potter TV Shows is something you would get behind.

And it’s not just Potterheads who would love to see Harry Potter TV shows be made. Evanna Lynch, who played the wonderful Luna Lovegood in the Harry Potter series, has made it known that she would be more than happy for a TV series to emerge.

More from Harry Potter

Some fans have even tried to start their very own TV series via YouTube, and other social media networks. And with the ever-increasing popularity of the Fantastic Beasts movies, the demand for more Harry Potter is, without a doubt, growing.

But what should a Harry Potter TV series focus on? With the Wizarding World already so large, and expanding so rapidly, there are so many possibilities we could begin with. Well, if someone who has the powers at be to launch a TV show is reading this, here are 7 Harry Potter TV Shows we would like to see happen.

1: Harry Potter reboot (1 chapter = 1 episode, 1 book = 1 season)

Ok, so I know nobody likes the idea of a Harry Potter reboot and that’s fair enough. Hollywood has a bad habit of rebooting something and then completely destroying everything that was good about the original in the process. But hear me out.

The biggest gripe that many fans have about the movies is how much of the books were left out. For example, Peeves, a major part of the Harry Potter books. He didn’t even get so much as a mention, never mind an appearance.

This would be a chance to rectify those wrongs. A TV series that would follow the pattern of 1 chapter being 1 episode and 1 book being 1 season would allow the story to be told in a level of detail in a way that was never going to be possible in the movies.

There are of course problems with this. The seasons would vary in length, so scheduling would be a nightmare. However, Netflix could get around that one fairly easily.

However, the budget required to create the series would be astronomical as well. And of course we wouldn’t want anyone other than the original cast playing the roles, and that obviously can’t happen.

But, if it could happen, you have to admit. It would be perfect for everyone who wants nothing but pure undeviated from the books Harry Potter.

2: Animated Harry Potter TV shows

This doesn’t actually have to be set around the time of Harry Potter, it’s not another reboot idea or anything. An animated TV show could be set at any point in the Wizarding World timeline.

What would be great about an animated series is that the limits that regular filming have pretty much evaporate. While movies do have access to CGI, and they are improving on that day on day, there are still limits on what they can create. Something animation can resolve within seconds.

Which is perfect for a TV show about the Wizarding World where pretty much everything that happens is mind-blowing.

Animation would allow us to see how spells interact in more detail with one another, for example, Sirius turning into the great big black shaggy dog that he is. We never got to see that transformation in detail, probably because it was either not possible or too expensive to make with CGI.

Not a problem with animation though, it’s cheaper and easier to do.

Another great use for animation would be if the setting was several hundred years ago. Instead of having to find a location that was barren of modernized buildings that would not have been around in let’s say the 13th century, animation can just create their very own location from scratch.

Basically, the imagination is the only limit when it would come to making animated Harry Potter TV shows.

The only drawback of animation is the fact it is animation. Not everyone is keen to see a moving cartoon of their favorite characters.

3: A MaraudersSeries

This is probably the Harry Potter TV show that a lot of fans would love to see made. In fact, I’m pretty certain a lot of fans wanted this over Fantastic Beasts. But hey, we won’t get bogged down in that one.

A Marauders Series, for those unaware, would be a prequel to Harry Potter. But not as far back as Fantastic Beasts. It would be focused around the time James Potter (Harry’s dad), Remus Lupin, Sirius Black, and Peter Pettigrew went to Hogwarts.

Following the mischief they got up to while at Hogwarts, the series would follow their adventures from their very first year, right through to graduation, and fans would be able to see how the iconic Marauders Map was created.

This is something fans are so keen to see come to life that you will find plenty of fan fiction written about their adventures. And based just on some of the fanfiction that has been written, it would honestly be pure gold for Potterheads.

Having moments such as:

"*Sirius walks into the Gryffindor Dormitory. Slamming the door behind him.*Remus: What happened?Sirius: Nobody died!Remus: What kind of answer is that?"

play out each week would be amazing.

The only problem with such a Harry Potter TV show coming to life is…..well I don’t actually have one really.

4: Rise of Voldemort

We learned a lot about Voldemort as the Harry Potter story played out, but not everything. A lot about Voldemort, especially before his failed attempt on Harry when he was baby is shrouded in much mystery.

A TV series dedicated to the rise of Voldemort would have the opportunity to provide a lot of answers to those unanswered questions that Potterheads have.

For example, when Tom Riddle, before he was more commonly known as Voldemort, left Hogwarts. He immediately began work at Borgin and Burkes, the shop located on Knockturn Alley, dedicated to dealing with dark magical objects. Much to the surprise of many. Many thought that Tom would go on to do great things, not working in a shop.

However, he wasn’t there forever, and after a short period of time, disappeared without a trace. He didn’t show back up until he was transformed, almost unrecognizable, as Lord Voldemort.

That mysterious gap of time would be a great place to start for a TV show. A look at how Tim Riddle became Lord Voldemort. Along with how he grew and gained so much power to bring about the Great Wizarding War.

An Indy movie of the origins of Lord Voldemort was actually made by dedicated Potterheads. Avaible to watch on YouTube; the Indy movie is certainly not without its flaws, but if you watch for the story only, it is fascinating and makes you want more.

5: The Great Wizarding War

If a Rise of Voldemort TV show did ever manage to get a green light, The Great Wizarding War would be the perfect TV show to follow up after it ended.

The Great Wizarding War is the time where Voldemort was at the height of his power. The dark times as Hagrid would reference them as. Nobody knew who to trust and people were disappearing everywhere. The Order of the Phoenix was fighting back but their numbers were dwindling and many were going into hiding.

Of all the Harry Potter TV shows ideas, this would probably be the darkest of them all. So geared towards us Potterheads who have grown up a bit since we read the stories.

Following the tales of the battles waged between both sides, the friends loved and lost, and no doubt the ever twisting and turning plot of those who betrayed one another. Because, as to quote Hagrid once again, nobody knew who to trust.

This is actually another idea that has been turned into a TV show of some sorts. Created by the team behind “Severus Snape and the Marauders.” The Great Wizarding War series is being made in the form of 12 part radio play.

Each episode is available to be watched on YouTube and their Podcast channel as well.

6: How Hogwarts was founded

We know who the founders of Hogwarts are, but not how Hogwarts came to be. Well, we know a bit anyway, but not as much as us Potterheads would love to see.

Having a Harry Potter TV show focused on the founders, maybe in the form of each season is focused on one founder, and we see everything play out through their eyes, would be extremely interesting.

Because there are so many questions needing to be answered. For example, how did the students learn magic before Hogwarts came to be? How did the four founders meet in the first place? There is so much to explore and so much to tell.

With the setting being so far back in time compared to Harry Potter as well, there would not be so much risk of potentially ruining certain aspects of Harry Potter that are canon. Something that fans, not just Potterheads but fans in general, get annoyed about when Hollywood decides to ignore some of the basic foundations of the story, just so they can create a specific plot point.

For me, if there was anywhere to begin, it would be here. Mainly because I want to see how Salazar Slytherin got that ruddy great big snake in the chamber of secrets without any of the other founders noticing.

7: The events leading to Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

Ok, so regardless of your opinion of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child you have to admit we would all love to see how they all got on after The Battle of Hogwarts.

There is plenty of fanfiction out there detailing what Harry, Ron, and Hermione, and all of our other favorite characters got up to in the years following. Many of them, we approve of. So there is plenty of source material to create, not just one, but many Harry Potter TV shows.

And it could all come to an end where Harry Potter and the Cursed Child begins, to keep the continuity and not infringing on the work that J.K. Rowling has canonized. Because we’re not like Star Wars fans here, just because we don’t like something doesn’t mean we throw our toys out of the pram. We just point out we don’t agree with it, and then move on.

The only problem with making this type of TV show is very much like the very first suggestion. Where we could have a Harry Potter reboot where we have one episode is one chapter and one season is one book. We wouldn’t want anybody other than the original cast appearing in it, so unless we get them, it’s not likely to be accepted very well.
