2. Juan Pablo Di Pace and Cheryl Burke: 30

Country Charlestons suit Juan Pablo, but then again, at this stage of the game, what doesn’t suit Juan Pablo? To be fair, there seemed to be something missing of the normal Charleston bounce and athleticism — although that could be attributed to the song, among other things. It was a perfectly fine dance, perhaps thanks to the additional help he got by going line-dancing ahead of the show night.

“Is there anything you can’t do?” Carrie Ann asked, basically echoing me. Bruno noted that the tempo of this song is completely out of whack, to put it nicely, which might be why it didn’t seem like it fit the Charleston. On a second watch, though, it will definitely grow on you.

1. Evanna Lynch and Keo Motsepe: 30

A country rumba? Sure, why not. With Carly Pearce performing her song live, Evanna and Keo brought a sensuousness to the stage, even with all of the old-fashioned bulbs hanging around. Even better, though, was that she got into the character of the song, even as she kept those smooth motions and the balance between sharp movements and slower ones.

“What a transformation!” Bruno said, before effectively repeating everything I did, which makes me feel pretty good as a Dancing with the Stars watcher. Carrie Ann, meanwhile, said that “you’re peaking at the right time.”

This is what I was expecting from her from the start, really, and it’s true that she’s making the push at the right time. It’s enough to get her past Juan Pablo and take the top spot on our power rankings this week.
