I Am the Night
What’s the story?: A young woman, abandoned at birth, teams up with a disgraced reporter to find out more about her identity. Along the way, the two get drawn into a series of events that might lead them to the infamous Black Dahlia killer.
In between working on Wonder Woman and Wonder Woman 1984, director Patty Jenkins and star Chris Pine worked on this TNT drama whose pilot is premiering at AFI Fest. I Am the Night looks like a dark and twisted noir throwback that borrows heavily from the story of the Black Dahlia. In case you don’t know, the Black Dahlia was bit actress Elizabeth Short who, in 1947, was viciously murdered. It’s theorized that a surgeon killed her and numerous suspects have been theorized. The first trailer for the series, released a few months back, looks incredibly intriguing as it seeks to blend the Black Dahlia murder with the story of Fauna Hodel’s (India Eisley) search for her identity. There are several macabre Hollywood stories out there, but with Jenkins at the helm, it’s sure to give you additional food for thought.
