Fantastic Beasts 3: Could we head to Germany next?

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald isn’t even out to the public yet, but we’re already looking ahead at Fantastic Beasts 3. Could we head to Germany next?

We’ve not even had the chance to see Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald yet, but there is already chatter about Fantastic Beasts 3. That chatter is mostly on where we’ll see Newt head to in the movie and Germany may now be on the list.

During an interview with the L.A. Times, production designer Stuart Craig talked about creating Paris without actually going to Paris. This led onto a discussion of how fans have now seen the French, British, and U.S. ministries and there may be the focus on the Berlin-based ministry next.

That means Germany and it’s not surprising the movie could end up here. After all, we’ve known from the beginning that the Fantastic Beasts movies will take us through the Second World War, which saw Germany as the strongest and most prominent of the Axis powers. The German Ministry would have to take a stand against the Allied Ministries, right?

Craig stated:

"“It’s nice to have a French ministry, U.S ministry and a British ministry — and probably in the third film, a Berlin-based ministry. They’re all variations on a theme, and that’s very nice to deal with as a designer.”"

It’s worth noting that he says “probably” in Fantastic Beasts 3. It sounds like he’s assuming right now and doesn’t know what scriptwriter J.K. Rowling has planned. We may have to wait a little longer, but the idea of a German Ministry is there in his mind.

Of course, we’ve already had the potential spoiler about the next location for Fantastic Beasts 3. J.K. Rowling shared that she’d been writing a lot about Rio de Janerio recently, suggesting that Brazil would be the next location in the Harry Potter prequel movies.

The new information of heading to Germany doesn’t mean Brazil isn’t on the table, either. Fantastic Beasts 3 could be set in two locations. The second movie does go from the States, to Britain, and then to France, right? We could have Newt doing research in Brazil to then get called to Germany at the request of Dumbledore for example.
